Site Assessments

Apart from the large-scale mapping of site conditions, a more thorough insight into the horizon and substrate profile of a soil of a smaller area may become necessary. For example, site assessments of formerly agricultural areas for purposes of afforestation are conducted by means of increased sampling density and laboratory analysis of topsoil samples. Based on soil profile evaluation and laboratory analyses, we can make recommendations for the selection of site-adapted tree species. In consideration of your operational goals, we can thus develop detailed planting plans and give advice regarding site preparation or potential risks.

We mainly work with Edelman soil augers (Eijkelkamp Agrisearch Equipment BV); supplemented by Pürckhauer augers. In accordance with the SEA 95, we analyse soils to a depth of 3 meters, but can evaluate the substrate up to a depth of 5 to 7 meters, if required (depending on the subsoil or bedrock).

Our laboratory analyses are generally conducted by the UWEG GmbH in Eberswalde, but may be adapted according to your requirement.
